Annual General Meeting

It was unfortunately not possible for the Annual General scheduled at Penderel's Oak on 16 April to take place. The Trustees have now agreed to reschedule it for Monday 28 September 2010 at 8pm. The Trustees have consequently also decided that all memberships due to expire on 31 March or 30 April should now be extended to 30 September in order that everyone will be able to vote.

The Trustees have found it difficult following Bob's death and Ron Hastings' subsequent resignation as a Trustee (and indeed from the Group) to continue as normal - for example the bank has yet to agree the revised signatories following Bob's death. They are therefore proposing a simplified structure and Group; details can be found in the attached calling notice.

They also propose to affiliate the Group to CHE, which will give members certain rights within that group; and that the annual membership fee, i.e. for the year from 28 September, be £5.

SLAGO Garden Party

All LMG members are invited to the SLAGO Garden Party at Ross and Roger's in Purley, from 1.30pm on Sunday 22nd August. If attending please contact hosts on 020 8645 0943 before the date to facilitate catering. Admission £5; please bring a bottle. Nearest station Purley.

Autumn Trip

The Trustees continue to believe that the Euro exchange rate makes Continental trips less viable, so have decided that the Autumn trip should therefore be to Southend on 3rd - 6th September. Member will meet at Fenchurch Street Station at 1300 on 3rd to travel to Southend Central; if you wish to travel before or after that members will meet in The Last Post, a Wetherspoon pub opposite Southend Central at 1430 and again at 1900. Members should book their own accommodation; the following can be recommended as of good quality and low price:

E-mail

As mentioned in the last mail, the Trustees have set up a new group address; londonmondaygroup@southerland.plus.com. Please send all future correspondence to this address. Messages can still be sent to the lmg@slago.org.uk address, but may be delayed.

Spring Trip

LMG members and other SLAGO group members, 19 in all, enjoyed a weekend in Brighton in May, despite rather wet weather. LMG also hosted a quiz evening for SLAGO group members at the Bread and Roses, Clapham, in April; the LMG team came second.

The late Robert Cook

As reported in the last newsletter, CHE members dedicated their meeting on 14 February to Bob. We understand they are currently investigating possibilities for a permanent memorial.
