For the latest events and happenings in London, see LGBT London.

What is SLAGO?

SLAGO is an umbrella group covering a number of social and support groups for gay men and lesbians in various parts of London and the Home Counties. The different groups cover different geographical areas, different age ranges, and various activities, including pub evenings, coffee evenings and bottle parties in members' homes, meetings with speakers, trips out to theatre, cinema, and places of interest, and tennis and other sporting events.

SLAGO doesn't have individual members.

SLAGO provides its member groups with a forum for interchange of news and ideas, quarterly liaison meetings, occasional conferences, and a variety of joint social events — see the Programme for details of forthcoming events.

Other services for groups include web hosting for those groups who don't yet have their own web pages, and suggestions on ways to advertise your group.

SLAGO is run in accordance with an Agreement between its member organizations.

The SLAGO Cup

The SLAGO Cup is contested between the various SLAGO groups with games, quizzes, etc over the winter period. The results of the 2007-2008 contest were as follows:The SLAGO Cup

Group SLAGO points
3F 4
CAGS 2
LMG 7
MCC 2
SLG 4

So the cup was awarded to LMG, and the runners-up shield was shared jointly by 3F and SLG. The cup and shield were handed over at the Garden Party in Purley on the 10th of August.

SLAGO Events

SLAGO maintains an ongoing Programme of Events, some organised by SLAGO itself, others by individual groups within SLAGO. All members of SLAGO groups (and others) are welcome at these events. See the Current Programme for forthcoming events.

The SLAGO Cup is contested between the various SLAGO groups with games, quizzes, etc over the winter period.

The annual SLAGO Awayday to Brighton (normally in May) is a good way for members of the various groups to get together and enjoy a day at the seaside. See the Programme for more details.

SLAGO has held Conferences from time to time, when all the SLAGO groups come together, with other gay and lesbian organisations, to discuss matters of common interest. Details of the October 1999 Conference in Clapham are elsewhere on this Web site.

Other past events include Bonfire parties in Purley, and a most successful Social and Sculpture day in South Godstone.
